  1. Monitor and track the dispatch of power plants to ensure compliance with operational requirements and regulatory standards.
  2. Prepare and submit offers for electricity supply to the market, considering factors such as market demand, pricing, and contractual obligations.
  3. Collaborate with customers to coordinate and manage bilateral contract quantities, ensuring precise communication and alignment with contractual obligations.
  4. Collaborate with system operators, market operators, and plant operation personnel to facilitate smooth day-to-day operations, address operational issues, and ensure compliance with market regulations.
  5. Prepare and submit accurate and timely Bilateral Contract Quantities to the WESM, reflecting the contracted supply and demand volumes.
  6. Regularly update the trading database with relevant market data, transaction details, and other information necessary for efficient trading operations.
  7. Ensure that all market transactions adhere to the rules and regulations set by the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market.
  8. Prepare and submit necessary reports to fulfill compliance requirements of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market.
  9. Generate and submit comprehensive reports on a daily and weekly basis, detailing trading operations, market trends, and relevant market updates.
  10. Identify areas for process improvement within the trading group and contribute to the development and implementation of efficient workflows and procedures.
  11. Utilize appropriate tools and methodologies to conduct electricity price simulation and forecasting, supporting decision-making processes.
  12. Perform other function related to Commercial Operations as maybe assigned from time to time.

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor's degree holder in Engineering, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or Information Technology
  • With at least 2 years relevant experience in the electric power industry. With preferences with candidates with a working knowledge and understanding of WESM
  • Proficiency in understanding electricity markets, including market dynamics, pricing mechanisms, regulatory frameworks, and market participant behavior.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret complex data related to electricity markets, trade volumes, pricing trends, and risk factors.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications for data analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Knowledge of SQL for data manipulation and analysis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), Python or C# for automating tasks and enhancing spreadsheet functionality is a plus.
