The Technical Design Management Head - Hospitality will lead and coordinate all architectural, interior design, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sanitary (MEPS), landscape, and auxiliary design trades for our projects. The role involves overseeing the design process from concept through to completion, ensuring innovation, functionality, and sustainability are at the forefront of every project. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in design and project management within the property development industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Management
- Lead and manage the design team, including architects, interior designers, landscape architects, engineers, and other design professionals ensuring high-quality design output.
- Coordinate with project management teams to ensure design visions are executed within budget, timelines and quality
- Manage relationships with various third-party design consultants. Ensure that consultants are fully engaged and delivering based on requirements.
- Manage and guide the design process from initial concept, through development, to final execution, ensuring projects meet aesthetic, functional, and sustainability goals.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including local authorities, consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure design requirements are met and regulatory compliance is achieved.
- Conduct regular design reviews and provide constructive feedback to design teams and stakeholders.
- Ensure integration of MEPS and structural elements into design projects without compromising aesthetic and functional objectives.
Design Standards Development
- Oversee the development and implementation of design standards, policies, and procedures to achieve excellence in design across all projects.
Department Management and Development
- Ensure the proper goals and KPIs are set for all team members
- Monitor the performance of the team and take necessary action to ensure productivity and project delivery goals are met.
- Develop and manage the design department's budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
- Foster innovation and creativity within the design teams, encouraging the exploration of new ideas, materials, and technologies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in design and construction technologies, and best practices to maintain competitive edge.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in design management within the property development industry, with a portfolio that demonstrates a wide range of residential and commercial projects.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate multidisciplinary design teams.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with proficiency in presenting design concepts and strategies to stakeholders.
- Comprehensive understanding of building regulations, codes, and design standards.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite) and project management tools.
- Experience in sustainable design practices and certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM).
