About the job Legal Counsel

The Legal Counsel for Regulatory and Marketing takes the lead on addressing legal issues and compliance concerning the customers and regulatory agencies (ERC, DOE, NEA, NGCP and PSALM). Duties involve assisting Marketing in the evaluation of customer requests including negotiations. He/She is also responsible in the drafting and review of contracts with customers and other regulatory legal documents, and research and drafting of legal opinions and memoranda for customer and regulatory concerns. He/She is responsible for collaborating with the Regulatory Officer.

Customer Regulatory Relations

Executive instructions given by the President & CEO on regulatory and customer related matters.

Assist and provide advice to the President & CEO on matters related to regulatory and customer related concern, including policy directions and strategies to be adopted.

Evaluate customer requests based on existing contracts/agreements and regulations.

  1. Evaluate customer requests based on existing contracts/ agreements and regulations.
  2. Draft and review contracts with customers and other regulatory legal documents, to check that legal rights and corporate objectives of the Corporation are not compromised and its obligations are complied with
  3. Issue legal opinions on interpretation and implementation of contracts with customers and regulatory concerns, in coordination with appropriate departments, to clarify legal rights and obligations
  4. Prepare letters and correspondence in connection with legal issues involving Marketing, customer relations, and regulatory compliance.

Permits and Compliance Monitoring

  1. Supervises permits and compliance with regulatory requirements, particularly compliance with ERC, DOE, NEA, NGCP, and PSALM, through coordination with appropriate departments, management and supervision of legal officers/ paralegals, to comply with legal requirements

General Legal Services

  1. General Query provide guidance and suggested course of action to legal issues and queries involving customer and regulatory concerns
  2. Provide support to the various Departments in the organization on other matters

Job Requirements:

  • Member of the Philippine Bar
  • At least 3 years practice of law
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working in the power industry.
