Job Summary

The Investment Specialist will provide support to the Investment Team in evaluating investment cases and analyzing information from the Project Development Team, building and maintaining financial models, monitoring and updating project costs to ensure accuracy and transparency, and coordinating closely with Corporate Planning and Project Development. In addition, the Investment Specialist will assist in the preparation of the company’s budget and forecasts, contributing to sound financial planning and strategic execution.

Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Modeling Build, Investment Case Management and Financial Review

  • Build, audit, or refine financial models, calculate investment return, sensitivity analysis to support internal evaluation or negotiations
  • Support in the validation of financial models and business assumptions provided by BD and PD teams
  • Assist in the coordination with financial input with legal, tax, and technical teams

Investment Approval Process

  • Support in drafting presentation material for investment review and internal approvals.
  • Monitor timelines, dependencies, and completeness of investment submissions.

Project Cost Monitoring and Update 

  • Prepare and maintain summary of actual capital expenditure, review actual vs. approved budget.
  • Update project cost monitoring and financial models of on-going projects and perform calculations on investment returns.
  • Assist in coordination with Corporate Plan, BD, PD on project cost forecast, other key assumptions and timeline submission.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Receive and consolidate budget data from the different departments.
  • Support in the preparation of the monthly forecast, full-year budget, mid-year review, and strategic planning review materials
  • Assist in the coordination with the Accounting Manager (in charge of collating data cost and expense data at a granular level) and Financial Reporting Manager (for monthly consolidated figures) to ensure consistency of assumptions and timeliness

Technical Competencies and Skills

Financial modeling and investment return calculation and analysis capability, Ability to assess assumptions/ conduct variance and trend analysis, Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint/Word, Excellent coordination skills across departments and functions, Strong business writing and communication skills, Organized, Detail-oriented, Reliable under time pressure

Education, Trainings and Licenses Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy/Finance/Management Engineering, At least 1-2 years relevant experience in Corporate Finance, Extensive background in financial modeling/ investment analysis/ or strategic finance., Experience in corporate planning/infrastructure/or project development is an advantage, Preferably a CPA/ CFA (Level 1+)/ CMA /or Master’s Degree in Finance.
