- Type of Employment: Part-Time (Estimated at 20 hours per week).
- Period of Performance: 13 April 2026 – 31 January 2027, with two (2) Option years.
- Estimate Pay: $65.00 per hour.
- Paid Time Off: Up to 40 hours per year, which starts accruing on the day of hire.
- Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, which starts occurring on the day of hire.
- Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays
Working Hours
The Registered Nurse may work from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Fr Registered Nurse will not work more than 40 hours a week, 2000 hours per year. The schedule may be adjusted mutually based on the needs of the San Diego Job Corps Center.
Summary of Services
The Registered Nurse (RN) will assist in delivering nursing care to students as authorized by the medical provider and within the scope of practice as defined by the state-specific Nurse Practice Act.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited Nursing School/Program.
- Current, active, and unrestricted license to practice nursing in California
- Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association.

Attire
The Registered Nurse is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty. The attire worn should also be appropriate for the educational environment. The San Diego Job Corps Center staff may approve scrubs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to students as authorized by the medical provider and within the scope of practice for the state-specific nurse practice act.
- Provide supervision to the staff Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to assure compliance with all state regulations and the scope of practice and nurse practice act for vocational nurses.
- Provide basic healthcare to students as required by the Department of Labor (DOL), including all entry requirements (including but not limited to phlebotomy, immunizations, vision and hearing screenings, etc.).
- Monitor students with illness and unable to attend class.
- Conduct student health record audits and participate in the continuous quality improvement program to identify needed improvements and employ mechanisms to improve compliance and ensure delivery of quality and effective services to students.
- Conduct coordinated health care for students and the implementation of other health-related programs. Assure chronic care management, including medication management, case conferences for all students with chronic illnesses.
- Assure that clinical services, including medication management, are within the health staff's scope of practice and within federal, state, and local regulations and statutes.
- Assist the Health and Wellness Manager (HWM) in managing the record-keeping and reporting of student injuries in the system provided by DOL.
- Provide direction and technical assistance to LVNs in all required health-related programs.
- Assist in the development of community linkages for health and disability resources.
- Provide oversight of all wellness center activities in the absence of HWM.
- Participate in and/or conduct required DOL and Management & Training Corporation (MTC) meetings as directed by HWM.
- Coordinate the applicant file review process in the absence of HWM.
- Function as the medical co-disability coordinator for the center if designated by the HWM.
- Participate in student employability programs and activities.
- Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps zero-tolerance policy.
- Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
- Maintain accountability of staff, students, and government property and adhere to safety practices.
- Provide regular feedback to staff regarding Career Success Standards procedures and intervention techniques.
