- Clearance Requirements: Tier 1 Background Investigation National Agency Check with Law and fingerprints. (Standard Form 85)
- Type of Employment: 40 hours per week.
- Period of Performance: One (1) year plus option years
- Estimate Pay: $150,000 - $200,000 per year
SUMMARY
The Medical Director will provide leadership, medical oversight, and quality assurance for all patient care services within Citrus County Fire Rescue. The individual will ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and provide guidance to emergency medical service (EMS) personnel to deliver high-quality patient care.
Required Qualifications:
- Licensing and Certification:
- Florida licensed M.D. or D.O.
- Board-certified in Emergency Medicine.
- Two years of prior experience as an ALS EMS Medical Director.
- ACLS certification or equivalent as per Florida Administrative Code Rule 64J-1.022.
- Valid, current, and unencumbered medical license in Florida, free of disciplinary actions.
- Experience and Knowledge:
- Familiarity with EMS system design and Fire Rescue First Response.
- Education and experience in pre-hospital care, EMS Quality Improvement Plans, and critical trauma care (adult/pediatric).
- Knowledge of EMS dispatch and communications, mass casualty/disaster medicine, and hazardous materials response protocols.
- Participation and Compliance:
- Active participation in regional or statewide physician groups involved in pre-hospital care.
- State of Florida minimum requirements to work as an Emergency Room Physician at an initial receiving hospital.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- Specialized Experience:
- Experience with EMS long-range strategic planning.
- Experience with Fire-Based EMS Services.
- Current instructor certifications (PEPP, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS).

- Documentation:
- Detailed qualifications narrative.
- Resumes and certifications for all team members involved.
- Evidence of active participation in pre-hospital care groups.
- Proposal Components:
- Title page, transmittal letter, and required documents.
- Detailed response addressing qualifications, experience, and methodology for services such as protocol review, QA training, and clinician performance programs.
- Commitment to Service:
- 24/7 availability for On-Line Medical Control.
- Plans for on-site visits, in-service training, and QA program integration.
