  • Type of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
  • Estimate Pay: $49.57 - $54.50/hour.
  • Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays
  • Period of Performance: Base Year plus Four (4) Option Years

Working Hours

The Radiologic Technologist will typically work from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The Radiologic Technologist will not work more than 40 hours a week.

Summary of Duties

Provide Radiologic Technologist services, professional in nature, in a method commensurate with the local community and in accordance with Joint Commission (JC) standards and Bureau of Prison (BOP) policy; maintenance of Radiologic Technologist services performed on the machines, daily maintenance of equipment, perform Radiologic Technologist as ordered by provides in given timeframes.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed the Radiologic Technologist program as an approved state program.
  • Certified as a Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
  • Shall be licensed diagnostic radiologic technologist by the State of California.
  • Must have at least one (1) or more years of experience.
  • Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).

Attire

The Radiologic Technologist is expected to wear navy blue scrubs or professional attire (scrubs preferred). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff.
  • Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs.
  • Possess knowledge of basic emergency situations that may occur during special radiographic procedures.
  • Schedule exams and maintain records.
  • Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.
  • Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary for a proper quality diagnostic exam.
  • Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate undue anxiety.
  • Independently perform all radiographic procedures, i.e., chest, bone, skull, spines, portable x-rays, etc.
  • Notify the Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while the patient is undergoing an exam so that additional views or exams can be ordered if needed.
  • Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care.
  • Work with the Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.
  • Act as liaison between radiologist and medical staff.
  • Receive any required training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques pertaining to medical services.
  • Develop a working knowledge of FCI Herlong medical protocols.
  • Wear outer protective clothing and always obey CDC universal precautions.
  • Perform other duties commensurate with a Radiological Technician.

Additional Duties (may also be required)

  • Computerization and printing of daily log.
  • Computerization and printing of exam requisitions.
  • Print all folders and exam labels.
  • Completing all x-ray studies ordered by the medical staff.
  • Preparing x-rays for shipment to the radiologist for interpretation.
  • Transport of-rays to radiologist for interpretation.
  • Transport all x-rays from the radiologist after interpretation.
  • Assisting the staff with maintenance of equipment and supplies and notifying staff when supplies are needed.
  • Conducting quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on x-ray equipment as needed.
  • Assisting with FDA inspections and preparation for Joint Commission and program review as needed.
  • Assuring that all x-ray requests are completed properly; Computerizing patient logs and repeat analysis.
