Job Overview

The role of a Technician at VaultGroup is to ensure that the Vaults at the various customers are installed, repaired, maintained, and uninstalled when needed and within the given timescales. The role is required to travel to the various customers in the various provinces as and when required to conduct the overall maintained and installation required. The Technician should also ensure that all work conducted at the various clients is to the customers' satisfaction and that it is conduct according to the standards set by VaultGroup.

Key Responsibilities 

Technical:

  • The Technician is required to check the workflows compiled by managers on a daily basis to see what work they are required to do. The Technician is then required to check that the stock that they need to complete the job(s) outlined on the workflow(s) is available.
  • Once the availability of stock has been confirmed by Technician, they are then required to ensure that they have all machines/ components, tools, and spare components that they might need are taken with to the field. It is very important that the technician is certain that they have all required machinery and components, to increase efficiency.
  • The technician is required to troubleshoot the Vaults, in order to identify what the problem might be, fix the identified problem and make the Vaults operational again according to the set standards. If the Technician fails to identity the problem while troubleshooting, they are required to escalate the issue to their Line Manager.
  • Once the repair, maintenance, installation and uninstallation has been completed the Technician should ensure that the space that they were working in is left in a tidy and safe condition.
  • When new employees join the team the Technician is required to provide support and train the new technicians. Moreover, the Technician is required to attend training provide by the company in order to improve their skills and learn new skills.
  • The Technician is responsible for testing the alarm system to ensure that it is working in order to ensure safety of the Vaults and minimise risks.

General & Administration:

  • The Technician is responsible for ensuring that all the necessary administration, claims and paperwork, as well as Zoho is completed and always up to date. Ensure that timesheets and overtime are correctly up to date and submitted at all times.
  • Ensure that kits and tools are updated and looked after. In all interactions, daily tasks and site visits, technicians should ensure to minimise damage to tools and kits, as well as losing any tools or part of their kit.
  • Ensure that a valid driver's license is available at all times when driving the company vehicle and ensure to inspect the car each time before driving it.
  • The Technician should ensure that the company vehicle and all company property is kept clean and maintained at all times. Ensure to inform relevant manager when the car is due for service in order for the car to be booked for service.
  • Responsible for reporting any incidents that may occur and any form of damage while they are in position of the company vehicle or any property as per the company policy and procedures.
  • Ensure the appropriate VaultGroup uniform is worn at all times. This includes looking presentable when visiting clients or being out on site.
  • Responsible for managing their time effectively, as well as communicating effectively with the relevant manager when confronted with any issues and delays on site. 
  • Manage and maintain good use of petty cash provided. 

Requirements: 

  • Matric (essential)
  • Maintenance, installation, and repairs experience
  • 2 - 3 Years experience as a technician, technician apprentice, or relevant work experience
  • Good communication and administrative skills
  • Be prepared to travel
  • Valid drivers license (essential)
  • Certificate in Electrical Engineering or related fields
