Job Overview: 

We are seeking a Technical Sales Representative to join our team and support growth in the agricultural sector. This role will focus on product sales and client development along the North Coast, Midlands, and Pongola areas of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as servicing distribution network and farmers. The successful candidate will assist the Area Manager in expanding our client base and increasing our footprint with farmers through regular farm visits and consultation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and expand the existing client base.
  2. Develop economically viable customer hubs.
  3. Provide technical support to growers.
  4. Conduct regular visits to growers, with new customers visited weekly and established customers fortnightly.
  5. Organise grower/producer field days and training sessions.
  6. Plan and execute field trials as required.
  7. Load necessary Sales Orders & Delivery notes onto RealIPMs sales platform.
  8. Participate in internal training and continuously upskill own knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of agricultural crop production practices.
  • 3 - 5 years of sales or practical experience in an agricultural environment with a proven track record in sales.
  • Agricultural degree or diploma.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sales Apps).
  • Knowledge of bio-control agents and crop protection chemicals.
  • Knowledge of Good Agricultural Practice (GAP).
  • AVCASA certification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months of employment).
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient budget management and reporting.
  • Ability to maintain and expand the company's footprint within the designated territory.
  • Ability to collaborate with industry role players and stakeholders.
  • Expert partnership management and engagement.
  • Bilingual communication skills.
  • Effective stock control management.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and reporting skills.
  • Experience in handling clients and resolving conflict situations.
  • Outstanding people skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet and exceed quarterly sales targets and budgets.

General Information: These are permanent positions, with a 3-month probationary period. A competitive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate, based on experience.
