Legal Officer
About the job Legal Officer
We are looking for a Legal Officer on behalf of a client, a licensed Australian funds management company founded in 2016. With local offices in Brisbane, Perth, and Sydney, and an international presence in Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, the company is dedicated to providing clients with unique investment opportunities.
This role will be responsible for providing legal support and guidance across a broad range of legal matters, including contracts, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and risk management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong legal knowledge, analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents such as contracts, NDAs, MOUs, and service agreements.
- Provide legal advice related to business operations, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities as needed
Conduct legal research and prepare reports and legal memoranda.
- Manage and support the legal issues and disputes, if any.
- Deliver legal training and updates to internal teams on regulatory changes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Law (LLB or equivalent)
- Admission to the Malaysian Bar or equivalent legal qualification.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in legal practice or in-house legal role.
- Proficiency in Chinese to review legal documents in Chinese
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.
- Experience in sectors such as aged care or fund management.
- Familiarity with international legal environments or cross-border transactions.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and discretion.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
