We are seeking a Complex Director of Marketing Communications on behalf of our client, a renowned luxury hotel in Kuala Lumpur, known for its exceptional hospitality and world-class event spaces. The Complex Director of Marketing Communications is responsible for planning, directing, controlling, and coordinating all communication activities, with a strong focus on public relations. This role plays a key part in promoting and maintaining positive brand communications to enhance the hotels prestigious image, ultimately contributing to its revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute an annual communications plan, aligning with the hotels marketing strategy and budget.
  • Oversee and track all communication activities, ensuring alignment with set goals and taking corrective action when needed.
  • Manage public relations efforts, acting as the hotel's spokesperson and maintaining strong relationships with media contacts.
  • Create and distribute press releases for local, regional, and international media, collaborating with corporate and international press offices.
  • Plan and coordinate advertising campaigns in partnership with the Director of Marketing (DOM) and advertising agencies.
  • Oversee direct marketing activities, including electronic marketing campaigns, ensuring brand consistency and budget control.
  • Manage all collateral production, ensuring compliance with corporate branding and maintaining up-to-date hotel information online.
  • Supervise in-house graphic design, print production, and quality control of promotional materials and hotel displays.
  • Monitor competitor activities and industry trends to inform marketing and communication strategies.
  • Organize press events, media visits, and promotional activities to enhance the hotel's public image.
  • Lead community and government relations efforts, as well as VIP handling and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Ensure advertising and media messaging align with the companys branding and market segmentation strategy.
  • Manage photography and multimedia assets for advertising, public relations, and internal marketing needs.
  • Guide and mentor the communications team, fostering collaboration and performance excellence.
  • Adapt to changes, demonstrating flexibility in priorities while effectively communicating the need for change.
  • Lead teams towards achieving goals by fostering a collaborative work environment and driving results.
  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders, ensuring high service standards.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to enhance team capabilities and individual professional growth.
  • Utilize business insights and marketing data to drive communication strategies and innovative solutions.
  • Apply technical expertise in media production, branding, and digital marketing to enhance the hotels positioning.

Requirements: 

  • A degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field is preferred; however, candidates with a high school diploma or GED and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in marketing, with at least some experience in managerial roles.
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Extensive experience in online and digital marketing, including social media management, in addition to traditional offline marketing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing effective marketing strategies.
  • Proven ability to manage and oversee marketing initiatives that drive brand awareness and revenue growth.
  • Background in sales, marketing, guest services, or front desk operations is an added advantage.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide and mentor marketing teams.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and consumer insights to optimize marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and media representatives.
