Position Overview
A highly regarded national law firm is expanding its Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice in Charlotte and is seeking a mid-level associate to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value matters involving sophisticated financial transactions and corporate restructuring initiatives.
The practice regularly advises financial institutions, private equity sponsors, distressed investors, and corporate borrowers on intricate restructuring and transaction matters. The ideal candidate will bring strong transactional experience and a background in financial services transactions, IP transactions, and M&A within restructuring contexts.

Candidate Profile
We are targeting candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Graduate of a Top 50 U.S. Law School
  • Experience with an Am Law 200 firm
  • Open to strong regional firms handling sophisticated matters
  • 2-6 years of relevant legal experience
  • Exposure to bankruptcy, restructuring, financial services transactions, IP transactions, and/or M&A
  • Strong academic credentials (minimum 3.0 GPA; not in bottom 50% of class)
  • Licensed in North Carolina or eligible for admission

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on restructuring strategies, distressed transactions, and insolvency-related matters
  • Draft and negotiate transaction documents and restructuring agreements
  • Support complex M&A and financial services transactions within distressed environments
  • Collaborate with financial advisors and cross-functional legal teams
  • Manage client relationships in a fast-paced, client-facing setting

  • Advanced legal drafting and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen
  • Transaction management and client advisory experience
  • Ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters simultaneously

Work Schedule
Hybrid schedule (typically 3 days onsite per week).
