Sustainability Consultant (Energy)

 Job Description:

Job Purpose

Member of the technical delivery team for Energy projects.

Accountabilities

1. Energy Audits (Commercial and Industrial)

  • Conduct detailed site assessments to gather data on energy usage, equipment efficiency, and operational practices.
  • Perform on-site measurements to obtain accurate data on energy consumption and system performance.
  • Utilize energy modeling software / Excel to analyze consumption patterns and identify inefficiencies.
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis for potential energy-saving measures, including payback periods and ROI calculations.
  • Develop comprehensive audit reports with actionable recommendations for Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs).
  • Validate Bills of Quantities (BOQ) to ensure accuracy and relevance to the proposed energy-saving measures.
  • Present findings to clients and stakeholders, explaining technical details and financial benefits.
  • Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure implementation and continuous improvement.

2. Support for ESCO Projects Implementation

  • Assist in the planning and design of Energy Service Company (ESCO) projects.
  • Provide technical support during the implementation phase to ensure adherence to design specifications.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to address any issues that arise during implementation.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Assist in commissioning and performance testing of installed systems.

3. Measurement and Verification (M&V)

  • Develop Measurement and Verification (M&V) plans in accordance with industry standards (e.g., IPMVP).
  • Perform measurement and verification activities for various projects to ensure the accuracy of projected savings.
  • Prepare M&V reports and present findings to stakeholders.

4. Supplier Coordination

  • Liaise with suppliers to source energy-efficient equipment and technologies.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to stay updated on the latest products and innovations.
  • Ensure timely delivery and installation of equipment and materials.

5. Research and Development (R&D) for Energy

  • Conduct research on emerging energy technologies and trends.
  • Develop and test innovative solutions for improving energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and standards to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Publish findings and share knowledge through reports, presentations, and industry forums.

6. Business Development (BD) Support

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the energy sector.
  • Support the development of proposals and presentations for potential clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Assist in market analysis and strategy development to expand service offerings.

7. Support for Facilities Management (FM) Contracts

  • Provide energy management services for Farnek FM contracts.
  • Prepare monthly energy reports for FM clients as per the contract schedule.
  • Visit Farnek FM sites regularly for client meetings, identifying energy issues, and proposing recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct annual energy audits for all applicable FM sites.
  • Support the Farnek FM technical team on energy management aspects.
  • Integrate and optimize Building Management Systems (BMS) and other technology-related systems to enhance energy efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities for Senior Consultant

  • Lead energy audits and manage projects for diverse commercial and industrial clients, ensuring thorough assessments and detailed reports.
  • Oversee the implementation of Energy Service Company (ESCO) projects, providing technical expertise and support.
  • Advise on procurement and supplier management strategies for energy-efficient technologies.
  • Drive research and development (R&D) initiatives to innovate and enhance energy management solutions.
  • Establish processes and templates to streamline operations and ensure consistency.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to other consultants within the team.
  • Conduct training and development sessions for consultants to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Develop financial models to assess project feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Utilize advanced technology tools and software to optimize energy analysis and project management processes.

Objectives

  • Demonstrate expertise in the technical delivery of energy audits and projects.
  • Offer energy consultancy services and technical knowledge to clients.
  • Conduct commercial evaluations related to energy management.
  • Support the implementation of ESCO projects.
  • Ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Develop and expand energy management services.

Education & Qualifications

Education/Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Energy Management accreditation is mandatory (CEM, CVMP or CEA).
  • ISO 50001 knowledge or certification is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of Facilities Management scope of services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction and report writing.
  • Carbon Management knowledge is an added advantage.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in Energy Consulting or Sustainability Consulting.

Skills

  • Experience in energy management, sustainability consulting, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in energy consulting with a proven track record of successful projects.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and client relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and recommend actionable strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
