Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate leader to manage our Legacy Academy Counseling program. The ideal candidate will supervise LA Counselors while providing direct clinical counseling services to children and parents/guardians across Family Legacy's Legacy Academy schools and Excel Beyond program.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate LA Counselors' performance through regular assessments
- Identify training needs and support professional development of counseling staff
- Provide clinical counseling using evidence-based techniques (play therapy, art therapy, CBT, trauma-focused interventions)
- Manage client referrals, conduct psychological/emotional/social assessments, and create individualized treatment plans
- Facilitate therapeutic support groups for specific needs (HIV, sickle cell, sexual abuse, grief, trauma)
- Conduct HIV disclosure processes with children and their parents/guardians
- Conduct death/illness disclosures and accompany children to funerals or hospital visits
- Collaborate with social services on abuse cases and attend court proceedings with children
- Perform counseling home visits for LA/EB children and families as needed
- Implement trauma-informed programming across Family Legacy
- Provide clinical child life specialist interventions with medical patients
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive client care
- Maintain detailed documentation compliant with HCPZ, ZCC, and PAZ standards
- Compile and submit counseling statistics and reports on time
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Diploma-level license in psychosocial or child counseling accredited by the Zambia Counselling Council (ZCC) or Psychological Association of Zambia (PAZ)
- Diploma in psychology, counseling, child development, or related field
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar clinical position
- At least 3 years of experience leading/building clinical counseling programs
- Current Zambian counseling licensure
- No prior convictions of harm to a child
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology or psychosocial counseling
- Experience working with vulnerable children and families in Zambia
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices

- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)

- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage complex situations
