About the job Early Learning Centre Chef/Cook

As our Cook/Chef, you'll play a crucial role in nurturing the health and development of our young learners.
Your culinary expertise will ensure that every child receives nutritious, delicious meals tailored to their individual needs. A typical day will see you:
- Meal Maestro: Prepare and serve breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and late supper using a four-week rotating roster.
- Dietary Detective: Craft meals to meet special dietary requirements and allergies.
- Kitchen Commander: Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, trolleys, utensils, crockery, cutlery, and appliances.
- Food Safety Champion: Ensure safe and hygienic storage, handling, and preparation of food and drink.
- Supply Strategist: Order food supplies in consultation with the centre director.
- Inventory Innovator: Receive, store, and rotate food supplies efficiently.
To be successful you will have:
- 1 year experience in a similar environment (e.g., long day care or aged care facility)
- Understanding of NSW Food Authority Guidelines
- Current Working with Children's Check
- Supervisors Certificate or willingness to obtain
- High-level oral and written communication skills
- Passion for nutrition/health and understanding of food's role in children's development
- Friendly, approachable demeanor with a can-do atttidue
- Ability to adjust nutritionally balanced menus guided by best practices
