About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator responsible for operating and evolving PostgreSQL platforms across on-premises and cloud environments.
The role is hands-on and focused on reliability, performance, automation, and day-to-day production operations, covering both self-managed database deployments and managed cloud database services.


Reporting Line - Infrastructure Architect

Worksite: Remote


Responsibilities

  • Administer PostgreSQL databases across on-premises and cloud environments

  • Operate standalone PostgreSQL deployments and self-managed clusters

  • Manage managed PostgreSQL services (GCP CloudSQL)

  • Ensure high availability, replication, backup, and disaster recovery (PITR)

  • Monitor and tune database performance

  • Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations

  • Automate routine DBA tasks and manage configuration via Git

  • Troubleshoot incidents and collaborate with infrastructure and application teams

  • Ensure database operations comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements (auditing, access control, data retention)


Qualifications

Automation & Tooling

  • Scripting skills (Bash, Python)

  • Practical experience with Ansible/Chef configuration management or similar automation/configuration tools (Terraform, Chef, Puppet)

  • Practical experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows

  • Experience with Git-based workflows

Operating Systems, Monitoring, Compliance & Documentation

  • Database monitoring and alerting

  • Experience operating databases in compliance-driven environments

  • Document database-related processes, policies, and operational procedures

  • Strong experience with Linux-based operating systems

Nice-to-Have

  • Administer ClickHouse databases

  • Experience operating databases in financial or other highly regulated environments

  • Experience with zero-downtime or minimal-downtime database maintenance

  • Experience with on-premises to cloud database migrations

  • Strong focus on data integrity and consistency under high load

  • Relevant certifications:
    - PostgreSQL-related certifications (EDB, PostgreSQL Professional)
    - Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Google Professional Cloud Database Engineer)
