About The Role

We’re on the lookout for a Scala UI Developer to architect and refine our high-performance desktop trading platform.


Reporting Line - Head of Frontend Engineering / Trading Platform Lead

Worksite: Remote/ Hybrid/ On-site (options vary by location)


Responsibilities

  • Build & Optimize: Develop and maintain our cross-platform desktop app (Windows/macOS/Linux) in Scala/Swing, ensuring flawless performance under heavy data loads. Code Like a Pro: Write clean, testable, and maintainable code because traders will notice lag.

  • Tame the Data: Use RxJava to handle real-time financial streams without drowning in callbacks. Debug Fearlessly: Profile and optimize JVM performance thread dumps and GC pauses are your nemeses.

  • Collaborate: Partner with quants and backend devs to align UI with trading logic.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional development experience (JVM ecosystem).

  • Experience building desktop/mobile apps (Swing, JavaFX, or similar).

  • Hands-on JVM debugging/profiling (YourKit, VisualVM, or async-profiler).

  • Strong grasp of reactive programming (RxJava, Akka Streams, etc.).

  • English: Tech-fluent (documentation, debates, and dark humor welcome).

Nice-to-have:

  • Kotlin/Compose curiosity.

  • DevOps chops (GitLab CI/CD, Gradle, or Docker).

  • Finance/trading domain knowledge.
