About the Role

ExeQut is seeking a highly skilled Python & Cloud Engineer to join our team supporting a high-impact project for the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

In this role, you will lead the design and development of robust AWS ingestion pipelines and cloud infrastructure. You will focus heavily on metadata normalization, ontology alignment, and knowledge graph implementation using AWS Neptune and OpenSearch. This position requires a blend of advanced Python development, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) expertise, and deep AWS architectural knowledge to ensure reproducibility and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Pipeline Development & Data Engineering

  • Ingestion Pipelines: Design and develop scalable AWS ingestion pipelines to handle complex data streams.
  • Data Transformation: Build metadata normalization and transformation workflows, specifically utilizing JSON-LD for semantic consistency.
  • Ontology Alignment: Manage schema mapping and ontology alignment to ensure data interoperability and structure.

Cloud Infrastructure & Operations

  • Infrastructure as Code: Implement and maintain reusable Terraform modules for AWS cloud infrastructure management.
  • Serverless Architecture: Build, deploy, and optimize AWS Lambda functions and Step Functions for orchestration.
  • Cluster Management: Maintain, tune Neptune and OpenSearch clusters for performance and reliability.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure code quality, comprehensive documentation, and reproducibility of all data workflows.

Qualifications

Core Technical Skills

  • Advanced Python: Deep expertise in asynchronous programming (asyncio), multiprocessing, ETL design patterns, and API integration.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with Terraform for state management and module creation.
  • AWS Ecosystem: Hands-on experience with S3, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, Step Functions, VPC, Neptune, and OpenSearch.
  • Semantic Technologies: Strong grasp of JSON-LD, schema mapping, and ontology alignment.
  • Communication: Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal), with a strong ability to produce clear technical documentation.

Certifications

  • Must Have: AWS Solutions Architect Associate.
  • Nice to Have: AWS Solutions Architect Professional OR Terraform Associate.

Work Schedule

This role supports a US-based client (NIH) and requires specific overlap with the US Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone.

  • Role Type: Full Time
  • Location & Time zone: Remote & Must overlap at least 3 hours with US EST.
  • Preferred Shift: 4:00 AM 12:00 PM EST (perfect alignment for overlapping collaboration).
  • Work Week: Standard work week (Monday - Friday) is preferred, but a generic "Sunday - Thursday" work week (with Friday off) is acceptable if required by your local region, provided the Sunday work is productive.
