Requirements for Outpatient Physical Therapist

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a physical therapist in an outpatient setting.

Education

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy
• Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Licensure

• National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE)
• State Licensure: Current state license to practice as a physical therapist.
• Clinical Experience
• Accredited Program: The DPT program must be accredited by the
  Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education
  (CAPTE).

Optional Certifications

• Board Certification in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS)
• Sports Physical Therapy (SCS)
• CPR and First Aid Certifications

• Must be US Citizen or Authorized to Work in the United States

SKILLS:
Skills and Abilities Required for Outpatient Physical Therapist

• Therapeutic Exercise and Modalities: Strong knowledge in designing and implementing rehabilitation programs, focusing on improving movement and relieving pain.
• Manual Therapy: Skills in hands-on techniques to manipulate or mobilize muscles and joints.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with patients and other healthcare professionals.
• Patient Education: Providing patients with knowledge on exercises and health practices to aid in recovery.
• Problem-solving: Ability to assess patients' conditions and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Physical Endurance: The job often requires long hours standing and assisting patients
