Position Overview:
The Technical Project Manager plays a vital cross-functional role in ensuring successful technical project execution from conception to closeout. In addition to hands-on deployment work, this role is responsible for creating Statements of Work (SOWs), developing detailed project plans, documenting step-by-step implementation procedures, and serving as a communication bridge between internal teams and key client stakeholders.
This position requires a detail-oriented, proactive technician with excellent communication and organizational skills who can balance technical tasks with project coordination responsibilities in a fast-paced MSP environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Documentation
- Develop project scope, goals, deliverables, and timelines in coordination with internal and external teams.
- Draft and maintain detailed Statements of Work (SOWs) and technical implementation plans.
- Create step-by-step deployment runbooks, task lists, rollback procedures, and contingency plans.
- Maintain project documentation in centralized systems and ensure accessibility for all stakeholders.
- Execution & Technical Delivery
- Perform installations, migrations, upgrades, and other technical project tasks in line with defined scopes.
- Coordinate hands-on activities with Tier 13 teams as needed for support, testing, and deployment.
- Ensure changes adhere to HIPAA, security, and client-specific compliance requirements.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a central point of contact for technical status updates and milestone tracking.
- Provide clear, timely updates to both internal teams and external client contacts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with dispatch and service delivery to schedule work in a way that minimizes disruption.
- Coordinate and lead project kick-off and post-deployment review calls with clients.
- Process & Knowledge Sharing
- Identify gaps in documentation and contribute to the internal knowledge base (KB articles, SOPs).
- Conduct handoffs to support teams post-deployment with full documentation and training where necessary.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- SOW Accuracy & Approval Rate: 90% SOWs approved with minimal revision required.
- Project Task Completion Timeliness: 95% tasks delivered on or ahead of schedule.
- Client Communication Score (internal feedback): 4.6/5 from stakeholders and project managers.
- Post-Deployment Issue Rate: 5% within 30 days of go-live.
- Documentation Completion Rate: 100% prior to project closeout and handoff.
- Internal Knowledge Contribution: Contribute at least one KB article, SOP, or process improvement per project or deployment to support ongoing operational efficiency and knowledge sharing.
