About the job Senior Property Accountant
Senior Property Accountant
We are hiring one senior-level accountant to own the full accounting function end-to-end. This is a combined role — the right person will run day-to-day operational bookkeeping and drive historical cleanup and financial reporting. Long-term, this person is positioned to become the accounting lead.
This is not a data-entry job. We need someone who can process volume accurately and think analytically — someone comfortable reconstructing messy books, investigating variances, and fix issues without hand-holding.
What You'll Own
Operational Accounting (Forward-Looking)
Daily transaction coding and categorization across QBO
Bank, credit card, and clearing account reconciliations
Bill entry, vendor payment processing, and AP workflow
Buildium-to-QBO transaction review and reconciliation
Monthly close: accruals, journal entries, prepaid and deferred items
Cleanup & Reconstruction (Historical)
Rebuilding subledgers from transaction-level detail when needed
Rent roll reconciliation against GL
Owner equity roll forwards
Investigating and resolving JE-heavy books where reconciliations have drifted
Clearing account cleanup and suspense resolution
Must-Haves
5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, with meaningful ownership of month-end close
Property management accounting experience — Buildium strongly preferred; AppFolio, Yardi, Rent Manager, or Propertyware acceptable if the candidate has transferable depth
QuickBooks Online Expert (ProAdvisor certification a plus)
Advanced Excel — must be genuinely comfortable with SUMIFS, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, and Pivot Tables. VLOOKUP-and-SUM only will not clear the bar
Demonstrated experience with reconciliation-heavy work at volume (multi-entity, high transaction count, or multiple clearing accounts)
Cleanup / reconstruction methodology — can articulate how to rebuild books from source, not just post adjusting entries
Strong written and verbal English communication
Strong Pluses
Experience with revenue-split / pass-through expense accounting (landlord splits, owner distributions)
Big Four or public accounting audit background
CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification
STR / furnished rental / hospitality accounting exposure
Experience in a high-growth or rapidly scaling environment
