About the job Sr. Software Engineer, Ai Applications

Senior Software Engineer, AI Applications

Remote, United States | Direct hire

A growth-stage analytics company is hiring a seasoned, high-output engineer to work across its product portfolio, including an AI-powered insights agent. You would own production systems that customers and internal teams depend on every day.

This is not a machine learning role. The work is building real, shipped, customer-facing software that happens to have LLMs and agents inside it.

What the work looks like:

You will own features and systems end to end: architecture, implementation, deployment, and iteration. Some of the work arrives well defined and you are expected to execute on it cleanly. The larger expectation is that you go past that, spotting opportunities, improving systems, and driving outcomes that move the business rather than waiting to be handed the next ticket.

You will not be waiting for a PM to write a spec. You are in the room where the shape of the thing gets decided, working directly with people across engineering, product, data, revenue, and with customers themselves, translating business problems into shipped software. That means driving initiatives across team lines and being able to talk to non technical stakeholders about engineering tradeoffs without losing them.

The systems you build need to be clean, maintainable, and structured to scale, but this is a fast moving environment and the technical decisions that matter are the pragmatic ones that balance speed against quality. You will also be expected to raise the bar around you through code quality, tooling improvements, and sharing what you know with a team of experienced engineers.

Ownership here is literal. You are the person who hears about it when something misbehaves in production, and being responsive and communicative under pressure is part of the role rather than an unusual week.

What has to be true about you:

  • 4+ years of hands-on development experience shipping customer-facing applications with impact
  • Stack flexibility: you work comfortably across Python, TypeScript, React, and cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS); experience integrating against a modern lakehouse platform is useful
  • You pick up unfamiliar tools quickly and do not let a new one slow you down
  • TypeScript and React are not negotiable; the front end is real work in this role
  • You have an AI-accelerated workflow, using AI coding tools daily to ship faster; the strongest candidates have shipped real AI/LLM-enabled products to users
  • You thrive in ambiguity, can break down a vague business problem, and deliver a working solution without heavy-handed direction
  • You have a bias toward action: you see a problem and fix it, you see an opportunity and ship it
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, STEM field, or equivalent practical background

The environment:

The team is small, senior, and lightly structured, which suits engineers who have operated without much process around them and would find heavy process frustrating. Growth here is determined by the impact you make rather than tenure or politics. Hours are flexible (EST), and the company invests seriously in AI tooling for its engineers without mandating how they use it.

Compensation and benefits:

  • $170-190K with final offer depending on experience, skills, and internal benchmarks
  • Flexible work hours and vacation
  • Generous 401(k) match
  • Parental leave
  • Wellness budget
  • Learning reimbursement
  • Team events
  • Note: We are open to evaluating candidates who may be ready for a role with more independence and experience than this position, too.

Interview process:

  1. Initial 45-minute casual virtual conversation with evrecruit.io
  2. Conversation with the hiring manager
  3. Technical exercise
  4. Technical discussion with a team engineer
