About the job Head of Development - Hamilton Aquatics
Job purpose:
The Head of Development Pathway is responsible for leading and managing the academy's transition stage between Learn to Swim (LTS) and competitive squads, ensuring a consistent, high standard of swimmers progressing into the competition and performance pathways.
The role will oversee athlete progression, coach alignment, and programme quality across all satellite locations, while ensuring a clear and structured journey for swimmers, parents, and partner schools. This position is critical to strengthening the academy's long-term athlete development system and sustaining performance success.
Key Objectives:
- Plan and deliver coaching sessions in line with the Hamilton Aquatics philosophy
- Attendance at relevant competitions
- Lead the team of Development coaches to deliver a high-performing, aligned Development Pathway across all sites
- Support with the creation and delivery of a CPD programme that ensures consistent coaching standards and delivery across all sites
- Strengthen the link between Learn to Swim, Development, Competition and Performance Pathways
- Integrate a parent education programme to build a strong parent community and enhance the swimmer-coach-parent dynamic
- Line manage a team of Development Coaches

Set of Required Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours:
Desired Qualifications:
- Swim England Level 2 Coach or equivalent
Desired Experience:
- 5+years experience as a coach
- Multi-site experience
- Line management or leadership experience
- Proven experience in competitive swimming coaching and pathway development
Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent customer service and relationship management skills
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Problem solving & conflict resolution, ability to influence coaches, parents and external partners
- Good IT skills, use of a bespoke booking and management platform is required
