About the job Age Group Coach
Hamilton Aquatics is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Competition Squad Coach to deliver a high quality programme to the Competition Junior and Competition Age Squads within the Hamilton Aquatics squad structure. Our goal is to develop the most skilful, robust, and well prepared junior swimmers of any club programme globally, while recognising the important role parents play in a swimmer's journey through strong relationships, communication, and education.
The successful candidate will support swimmer development through high quality coaching, talent identification, athlete progression, and positive stakeholder engagement, while upholding the values and standards of Hamilton Aquatics.
Key Objectives
- Plan and deliver appropriate and engaging sessions for the Competition Junior and Competition Age Squads that are challenging for swimmers, at an appropriate level for their development and that are progressive and relevant to long term athlete development and the Hamilton Aquatics programme.
- Monitor and record the progress of swimmers to ensure "on track" development for the Performance Age, Performance Transition, and Competition Transition Squads.
- Talent ID and track progression of swimmers into and through the Competition Junior and Competition Age Squads from within Hamilton Aquatics and from other programmes.
- Develop positive relationships with swimmers, parents, and key stakeholders.
- Retain swimmers within the Hamilton Aquatics programme with clear communication of projected progressions.
- Assist the Head Development Coach by mentoring Development Pathway Coaches and proactively support coach development across the programme to ensure high standards of coaching are maintained by the coaching team.
- Ensure Hamilton Aquatics values are upheld at all times.
Set of Required Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of UKCC Level 2 Coaching in Aquatics (or equivalent) Certificate.
- Current Lifeguard Qualification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
Desired Experience
- Experience in coaching young swimmers at the Learn to Train and Train to Train stages of LTAD.
- A proven track record in developing age group swimmers and managing their own squad.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong understanding of swim stroke mechanics and training methodologies.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for training and competitions.
- A team player with a positive attitude and the ability to inspire and motivate young athletes.
- Ability to manage workload and assignments in order to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good IT skills and competency with technology, including use of video analysis tools.
