About the job Human Resources Assistant (PT, 30 hours/week)
Come join our top notch HR team at Evening Post Publishing! This is a benefitted, nonexempt, on-site position with flexible scheduling around a 30-hours per week expectation, Monday though Friday. The worksite is our production facility at 4500 Leeds Avenue, North Charleston, SC.
The HR Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support the effective and efficient operations of the HR department. This role will work directly with and assist the Human Resources Director to fulfill a variety of necessary HR tasks, including invoice reconciliation and payment processing, HRIS updates, and reoccurring reporting. This role will also help maintain positive employee relations and work to ensure employee satisfaction through education of HR policies and by fostering a positive work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Organizes, maintains, and updates employee HRIS information as needed.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include invoice review and coding.
- Assists in recruiting, primarily with initial candidate screenings and interview scheduling with Managers.
- May conduct or assist with new hire orientation.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as needed in a fast-paced and somewhat stressful working environment, proactively managing numerous projects and prioritize competing deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field preferred.
- Two years of office experience preferred, with at least one year in human resources highly preferred.
