About the job Dock Worker
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This part time position is responsible for moving newspaper bundles to contractor work stations and utilizing system manifest to identify zoned newspapers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Load and unload bundles of newspapers
- Audit, distribute, and stage all schedule publications to the contractors
- Receive and verify products dropped off for delivery such as Aiken Standard, Aiken Standard Plus, North Augusta Star
- Responsible for spot checking returns
- Keep work area secure, clean and safe
- Clean up dock area at end of shift
- Other duties as assigned by management
Requirements, minimum education level, and experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Six months related experience
- Must be able to transport newsprint materials weighing 30 to 50 pounds and push loaded warehouse carts weighing up to 750 pounds
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have excellent attendance and punctuality record
- Must be flexible regarding work schedule (nights and weekends)
- Able to interact with people in a professional manner
- Adhere to department safety policies and practices
Physical Requirements, Work Environment and Travel:
- Ability to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop, perform moderate lifting (30 – 50 pounds), and pushing carts weighing up to 750 pounds.
- This worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, which may provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
