We recruit a Senior SQL Server DBA within a global team responsible for Technology Analytics. We are a multi-disciplinary team of experts across Architecture, Engineering, DevOps and Agile Delivery providing services across the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a multi-skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team, the ideal candidate will have expertise in MS SQL Server database management systems, along with a strong understanding of database architecture, design, and optimization principles.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities within the Domain:
- Install, configure, and maintain MS SQL Server database software
- Develop and implement licensing and data strategy
- Monitor database performance and tune databases for optimal efficiency
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as database reorganizations, index rebuilds and disaster recovery testing
- Identifies problems at the database and system level, and recommends solutions
- Collaborate with developers to optimize database queries and improve application performance
- Collaborate with developers during peer review processes
- Implement database security best practices according to company and GDPR standards to safeguard sensitive data
- Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and standards
- Stay up to date with the latest database technologies and trends
- As a senior, work with the Head of Technology to manage the teams workload and act as a stand-in during any absences of the HT
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong ability to work independently and manage one's time
- Proven expertise as a Database Administrator with MS SQL Server in a multi environment architecture
- Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server database technologies with a range of versions
- Strong knowledge of MS SQL core technologies: SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
- Strong knowledge of computer software, such as Windows Security, Virtualization
- Strong knowledge of Database installation & configuration
- Strong experience in data migration and consolidation (Datacenter, SQL instances, databases)
- Expertise in database security principles and techniques
- Expertise in Extended Event and TSQL coding
- Expertise in PowerShell (coding, DBATools, script maintenance)
- Expertise in High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server
- Clustering techniques such as MS SQL Server Clustering
- Significant experience using database backup tools and methodologies
- Good understanding of database storage management
- Good knowledge of Active Directory (GMSA Account, GPO, Cluster OU, ...)
- Significant experience of performance tuning and query optimization
- Managing workloads within the Jira product
- Experience working with Microsoft via their support processes
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 10 years hands-on experience of database administration
- Experience in the travel and tourism industry is a plus
- Proven experience of managing and mentoring other database administrators is a significant advantage
- Strong understanding of database management concepts, including normalization, indexing, and transaction management
- Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning tools
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Native-speaker level French in order to work collaboratively with Business, Product Owner, Transversal IT Teams and Business Project team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certifications, AWS Certifications) are a plus but not essential
- Experience of managing databases within a cloud environment such as AWS or Azure is a plus but not essential
