Our client is a diversified international business group with operations and strategic interests across multiple markets. The organisation is expanding its international portfolio and is focused on delivering large-scale infrastructure, environmental, and sustainable development projects across Africa and other global markets.
As part of its continued international growth, the organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Finance & Capital Raising to provide strategic financial leadership while driving its global capital mobilisation agenda.

Role Overview
The Head of Finance & Capital Raising will lead the finance function across the organisation's international operations, providing strategic oversight of financial planning, budgeting, reporting, treasury, controls, compliance, and financial performance management.
A critical component of the role will be to originate, structure, negotiate, and close capital-raising transactions across international markets. The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), private equity firms, institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, commercial and investment banks, multilateral agencies, and capital markets participants.
The role will be instrumental in ensuring the organisation has access to appropriate and cost-effective sources of capital to finance international expansion, infrastructure development, acquisitions, and major projects.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with international growth and investment objectives.
  • Advise senior leadership on capital allocation, capital structure, funding strategies, and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Lead strategic financial planning and support business expansion and market-entry decisions.
  • Conduct macroeconomic, foreign exchange, regulatory, and market analysis across operating jurisdictions.
  • Provide financial insights to support investment, expansion, and capital deployment decisions.

Global Capital Raising & Investor Relations

  • Lead the organisation's global capital-raising strategy across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas.
  • Originate, structure, negotiate, and close debt financing transactions, including project finance, syndicated facilities, revolving credit facilities, trade finance, and DFI financing.
  • Develop and execute equity and quasi-equity fundraising strategies involving private equity firms, institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and strategic investors.
  • Structure blended-finance solutions combining commercial and concessional capital for infrastructure and sustainable development projects.
  • Identify and leverage green, climate, sustainability-linked, and impact-finance opportunities.
  • Lead bond and capital-markets transactions where appropriate, including local and international currency issuances.
  • Build strong relationships with investment banks, financial advisors, DFIs, investors, and capital-market intermediaries.
  • Prepare investor-ready financial models, information memoranda, investment presentations, and due-diligence materials.
  • Represent the organisation at investor roadshows, investment conferences, DFI forums, and capital-markets events.
  • Manage post-investment relationships, including lender reporting, covenant compliance, ESG reporting, and investor communications.
Budgeting & Financial Performance Management
  • Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year financial planning across international operations.
  • Lead monthly budget-versus-actual reviews and identify corrective actions for significant variances.
  • Develop financial dashboards and performance indicators for executive management.
  • Partner with country and business-unit leadership to establish financial targets and improve performance.
  • Monitor profitability, cash generation, working capital, and overall financial performance.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and applicable local standards.
  • Oversee consolidation of financial statements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory financial reporting requirements.
  • Oversee international tax compliance, including corporate tax, VAT, withholding tax, and transfer-pricing requirements.
  • Establish high standards of financial reporting integrity, transparency, and governance.
Revenue, Cost & Working Capital Management
  • Analyse revenue streams, cost structures, margins, and financial performance across business units and countries.
  • Identify opportunities to improve revenue generation, reduce costs, and strengthen operating margins.
  • Oversee the financial management of major contracts, including revenue recognition, payment milestones, and cost-to-complete.
  • Drive working-capital optimisation and cash conversion across international operations.
  • Partner with procurement and operations teams to improve cost efficiency.
Treasury, Financial Risk & Internal Controls
  • Develop and maintain a robust financial risk-management framework covering liquidity, credit, foreign exchange, interest-rate, and country risks.
  • Oversee treasury operations and ensure appropriate liquidity across international entities.
  • Monitor foreign-exchange exposure and develop appropriate risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Strengthen financial policies, procedures, systems, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with group governance requirements and international best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate emerging financial and investment risks.
Executive Advisory & Strategic Transactions
  • Provide high-quality financial analysis and recommendations to the Director of International Business and senior leadership.
  • Prepare financial performance reports, capital-raising updates, investment papers, and strategic financial presentations.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic investments, and new-country-entry assessments.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, project economics, financing structures, and returns.
  • Serve as the principal financial interface with banks, investors, DFIs, auditors, advisors, regulators, and government stakeholders.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead and develop finance teams across multiple international markets.
  • Build a high-performing, commercially focused, and accountable finance function.
  • Establish performance objectives and provide coaching and professional development to finance teams.
  • Promote a culture of financial discipline, integrity, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate effectively with Finance, Treasury, Investment, Human Capital, Business Development,
  • Legal, Operations, and country leadership teams.

Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, ICA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent is required.
  • CFA qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience
  • 12–15+ years of progressive experience in finance, corporate finance, investment banking, accounting, treasury, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years in a senior finance leadership position with responsibility for financial reporting, budgeting, controls, and strategic finance.
  • Demonstrable experience in originating, structuring, negotiating, and closing capital-raising transactions.
  • Proven experience securing funding from DFIs, private equity, institutional investors, commercial banks, or international capital markets.
  • Experience raising capital across multiple international markets is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in infrastructure, environmental services, waste management, utilities, energy, or other capital-intensive industries will be an advantage.
  • Experience managing finance teams across multiple countries or within a multinational environment.
