Our client is a leading global AI technology company focused on advancing and deploying AI systems for businesses and leading AI research organisations. The company works across areas including reasoning, coding, agentic AI, multimodality, multilingual AI, and other emerging AI capabilities.
As part of its AI evaluation and expert-content development initiatives, the organisation is seeking experienced professionals who can apply their specialised knowledge to complex, real-world business scenarios.

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Regulatory / Compliance Counsel to contribute expert legal and compliance knowledge to AI evaluation and content development projects.
The role involves developing and reviewing complex regulatory and compliance scenarios, assessing legal risks, interpreting regulatory requirements, and ensuring outputs reflect sound professional judgment and practical business application.
The successful candidate will combine strong regulatory law, compliance, risk management, and legal analysis expertise with excellent written communication and attention to detail.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Regulatory & Legal Analysis

  • Interpret relevant laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and internal policies.
  • Analyse complex regulatory and compliance scenarios.
  • Identify legal obligations, regulatory risks, and potential compliance gaps.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into practical business recommendations.
Compliance Programme Review
  • Assess compliance policies, procedures, controls, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Evaluate risk assessments and regulatory reporting processes.
  • Identify weaknesses in compliance programmes and recommend practical improvements.
  • Apply knowledge of regulatory risk and internal control frameworks.
AI Task & Content Development
  • Create challenging regulatory and compliance scenarios for AI evaluation.
  • Develop accurate reference answers and evaluation criteria.
  • Apply professional legal judgment to assess AI-generated responses.
  • Ensure outputs are relevant, accurate, well-reasoned, and practically applicable.
Quality Assurance
  • Review and assess work produced by other subject-matter experts.
  • Identify factual, analytical, regulatory, and reasoning errors.
  • Calibrate outputs against established quality standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback to improve accuracy and consistency.
Risk Assessment & Escalation
  • Identify complex or ambiguous regulatory issues requiring further review.
  • Assess potential compliance and operational risks within assigned scenarios.
  • Escalate genuine edge cases and unclear evaluation requirements to the SME Lead.
  • Contribute to improving evaluation rubrics and quality standards.

REQUIREMENTS
  • 5–15 years of relevant experience in regulatory law, compliance, risk management, legal advisory, or related functions.
  • Juris Doctor (JD), law degree, or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, compliance requirements, and risk management.
  • Practical experience with compliance programmes, policies, controls, monitoring, risk assessments, or regulatory reporting.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and professional judgment.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, project-based environment.
  • Must be located in an approved U.S. state.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CCEP, CAMS, or other relevant compliance/risk certification.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries.
  • Previous experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, or quality assurance is an advantage but not required.
