Role Summary

The Head of Investment oversees the company's investment strategy, liquidity management, and portfolio performance. The role requires deep expertise in fixed‑income instruments, money‑market placements, treasury operations, and regulatory investment guidelines for insurance companies. The position ensures that the firm maintains adequate liquidity to meet claims obligations while optimizing returns within approved risk limits.


Key Responsibilities
Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management

  • Develop and implement comprehensive investment strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the management of investment portfolios across various asset classes.
  • Recommend asset allocation strategies to maximize returns while maintaining acceptable risk levels.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities that support long-term growth objectives.

Research & Market Intelligence

  • Conduct economic, financial, and market analysis to support investment decision-making.
  • Monitor local and global market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes.
  • Provide investment recommendations based on market intelligence and financial analysis.
  • Assess emerging opportunities across fixed income, equities, alternative investments, and other asset classes.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Establish investment risk management frameworks and controls.
  • Ensure investment activities comply with regulatory requirements, corporate governance standards, and internal policies.
  • Monitor portfolio risk exposure and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain strong oversight of investment governance processes and reporting requirements.

Financial Performance & Reporting

  • Track and report investment performance against established benchmarks and objectives.
  • Prepare investment reports, portfolio reviews, and presentations for executive management and board committees.
  • Provide strategic insights on portfolio performance, market outlook, and investment opportunities.
  • Support financial planning and capital management initiatives.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with asset managers, financial institutions, investment partners, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with external investment service providers.
  • Represent the organization in investment-related engagements and industry forums.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development support to the investment team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish performance objectives and monitor team effectiveness.
  • Drive collaboration across finance, risk, actuarial, and business units.

RequirementsEducational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), Economics, or a related field is an advantage.Professional Certifications
  • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), ACCA, ICAN, CIS, or other relevant professional qualifications preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in investment management, treasury, asset management, portfolio management, or related financial services roles.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership or managerial capacity.
  • Experience within insurance, asset management, pension, banking, or broader financial services sectors is highly desirable.
