Job Title: Business Development Consultant – Agro-Processing Partnerships

Reports To: Co-Founder / Chief Operating Officer

Location: Remote (Nigeria) | Travel Required

Work Structure: Contract (2 Months) | Senior Individual Contributor

Remuneration: USD $2,000 – $4,000 per month (Base) + Performance-Based Deployment Incentives

As part of its expansion strategy across Nigeria and Africa, the company is seeking an experienced Business Development Consultant to build strategic partnerships with agro-processing businesses and accelerate commercial growth.

Role Summary
The Business Development Consultant will drive strategic partnerships with agro-processing companies by leveraging industry relationships to identify qualified opportunities, expand referral networks, and generate new business. The successful candidate will engage senior decision-makers, build long-term partnerships, and contribute directly to the organization's commercial growth objectives.
This role is ideal for a commercially driven professional with an established network across Nigeria's agro-processing industry and a proven track record in business development.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify and engage qualified agro-processing companies that align with the organization's partnership criteria.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of partnership opportunities through warm introductions and industry relationships.
  • Establish relationships with senior decision-makers, including business owners, Managing Directors, General Managers, and Operations Directors.
  • Drive partnership discussions from initial engagement through qualification and successful handover.

Referral Network Development

  • Develop and expand referral partnerships with equipment suppliers, agribusiness consultants, cooperatives, financiers, agricultural associations, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Maintain regular engagement with referral partners to generate qualified business opportunities.
  • Support the onboarding and management of referral partners.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Represent the organization during business meetings, site visits, conferences, exhibitions, and industry networking events.
  • Build trusted relationships across the agricultural processing value chain.
  • Provide ongoing engagement and follow-up to maintain momentum throughout the sales cycle.

Pipeline Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate CRM records of all prospects, referrals, and partnership activities.
  • Capture key commercial information, including production capacity, feedstock availability, and stakeholder profiles.
  • Prepare regular business development reports, market intelligence updates, and pipeline performance reports.
  • Share market insights and competitive intelligence with leadership to support strategic decision-making.

RequirementsEducational Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Marketing, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in Business Development, Commercial Partnerships, Agribusiness, Corporate Sales, or Relationship Management.
  • Experience within agriculture, manufacturing, industrial processing, renewable energy, or sustainability sectors is highly desirable.
  • Existing relationships with executives or owners of agro-processing businesses across Nigeria will be a significant advantage.
