Note: This is a 12-month contract-to-hire role.
Job Description:
- Interact with Crew Supervisor and Manufacturing Specialists to provide needed tooling and direction for the purpose of assisting employees to make product that meets the Customers expectations at levels of productivity that meet or exceed the established plan. Reports directly to the Tool Room Supervisor, in-directly to Tool Room Machinist.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operation of the Makino Milling Machines and other tool room equipment as trained, (i.e. Wheelabrator, manual mill and grinders) Tooling preparations i.e. breakdown, cleaning and building of tooling to be machined.
- Measure step heights on punches and log data into the tool room step list.
- Maintain punch cut records, compacting tool sign-out sheets and dispense to oven sheets.
- Receive tooling in from vendors; perform inspection of product related tooling as needed.
- One or more Tooling specialist assigned to write tool path programs for the Makino mills.
- Basic operation of computer used to transfer programs to the Makino mills.
- Safety, work in a safe manner.
- Assist with tooling inventory as needed.
- One or more Tooling Specialist assigned to support training.
- Perform daily / monthly operator PMs.
- Assure production readiness of Tool and Die.
- In addition to the above responsibilities, this position is responsible for other tasks as assigned.
Skills Required:
- KNOWLEDGE/AWARENESS IN THE FOLLOWING CNC/machining background a plus Blueprint reading a plus Drill Press Sawing.
Experience Required:
COMPETENCIES ISO9001/IATF16949/ISO14001 Awareness CNC mill details to finished size after heat treat (face forms) Continuous Improvement Customer Specific Requirements Ethical Practice General Housekeeping Health & Safety Identify and demonstrate usage of machine safety and personal protective equipment Knowledge of manual Tool Room equipment Lock-out/Tag-out Procedures Material handling, hazardous materials handling and storage Prepare details for CNC Machine Preventive Maintenance/Machine Tools Risk-Based Thinking Use hand tools on contoured steel from CNC milling operations
MUST HAVE
- HS or GED.
- 2 years of experience in CNC/machining background.
- Blueprint reading a plus.
- Drill Press.
- Sawing.
