Summary

Our client is seeking a Surgical Dental Assistant to join their team! In this full-time, Monday through Friday role, you will support a busy oral surgery practice by assisting with implant placements, extractions, grafting, and related surgical procedures. The position requires a detail-oriented professional who excels in sterile technique, communicates clearly with patients and colleagues, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operatory and surgical instrumentation using strict sterile technique
  • Chairside assist the surgeon during dental implant placements, extractions, bone grafts, and other oral surgery procedures
  • Anticipate the surgeon's needs and provide the correct instruments throughout each procedure
  • Deliver accurate postoperative instructions and support patients in their recovery
  • Maintain clear, detailed treatment notes and surgical documentation for every patient visit
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder surgical supplies to keep the clinic running smoothly
  • Foster open communication and collaboration within the surgical team
  • Uphold all infection control and OSHA standards to ensure patient and staff safety

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience in oral surgery or surgical assisting
  • Proven proficiency with dental implants, extractions, grafting, and related surgical protocols
  • Confidence in sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and postoperative care
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a team-focused mindset
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to solve problems in a fast-moving clinical environment

Education/Certification Requirements

    • A High school diploma or equivalent
    • Successful completion of a Michigan-approved dental radiography course and current Radiography Certification
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers

    Preferred Requirements

    • Completion of a CODA-accredited dental assisting program or equivalent certificate is preferred
    • Active Michigan Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license or eligibility/commitment to obtain within 12 months preferred
