  • Location: Lake Odessa, MI
  • Work Model: Onsite; 2nd Shift: 2 pm - 10 pm
  • Shift Expectations: M-F, every other Saturday or Sunday / off every other weekend, plus every other Sunday (subject to production changes)
  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
  • US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident Status Required

Summary

Our client is seeking a Maintenance Technician with experience in electrical and controls to join their 2nd shift team! The Maintenance Technician will maintain process reliability, adhere to industry standards, and ensure a safe work environment. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical systems, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting plant instrumentation and data collection systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and proficiency in using maintenance tools and electrical testing equipment. If the selected candidate doesn't already have their Journeyman Electrician's license, our client will help them obtain it.

Responsibilities

  • Operate maintenance tools safely, including power tools, hand tools, and electrical testing equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including annual PMs
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics accurately
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues independently
  • Follow safety policies and procedures, identifying and correcting unsafe conditions
  • Conduct complex troubleshooting of analog and digital control devices and sensors
  • Operate and use oscilloscopes, VOM, and other test equipment for control device repairs
  • Troubleshoot communication issues between PLC/PC and ASCII devices, including barcode readers, scales, and digital displays
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electronically controlled equipment, plant instrumentation, and data collection systems
  • Prepare work sites, including setting up scaffolding and safety measures
  • Investigate job sites to determine the scope of reactive work
  • Perform closeout activities such as tool accountability, parts reconciliation, and functional operations tests
  • Communicate effectively through written daily pass-downs
  • Assist in establishing and implementing preventative maintenance procedures for electronic control equipment
  • Work collaboratively with the Maintenance Supervisor to resolve issues
  • Maintain a high-performance mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Requirements

  • 3+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience
  • Programming and troubleshooting skills, preferably with Allen-Bradley
  • Be able to troubleshoot PLCs and Ladder logic
  • Ability to troubleshoot 480 VAC 3-phase motor controls, 120 VAC, and 24VDC control circuits
  • Safety, Health, and Environment knowledge
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Understand and certify in LOTO
  • Self-starter and high-performance individual with the ability to prioritize workload
  • Maintenance experience in a food processing environment
  • Computer literacy and eagerness to learn SAP/PPE systems
  • Ability to effectively use typical test and calibration equipment
  • Availability to work weekends and off-shift hours as required
  • Willingness to join the Hazmat team

Education/Certification Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required

Preferred Requirements

  • A Journeyman Electrician License in the state of Michigan is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley programming and troubleshooting
  • Maintenance experience, specifically in a food processing environment
