Our client is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist to join their team! Working alongside a periodontist, you will perform initial periodontal screenings, provide ongoing periodontal maintenance, and collaborate on evidence-based treatment plans that safeguard long-term tooth and periodontal health. The role blends hands-on clinical care with patient education, emphasizing the oralsystemic connection and preventive strategies. Responsibilities

  • Clarify treatment needs and expected outcomes with patients before examinations
  • Conduct initial periodontal and medical history screenings while requesting medical consults when indicated
  • Detect recession, periodontitis, periimplantitis, oral lesions, and other periodontal concerns
  • Drive comprehensive periodontal maintenance therapy during 70-minute appointment blocks
  • Execute scaling and root planing sessions of 50-90 minutes per sextant or quadrant
  • Review advanced chart audits to anticipate each patient's specific needs
  • Coordinate closely with a virtual Dental Assistant for perio charting, documentation, letters, and X-ray sharing
  • Follow preestablished treatment plans and communicate real-time updates to the clinical team
  • Rotate between two practice locations as scheduled to ensure consistent patient coverage
  • Utilize designated 70-minute prep blocks to stay organized and ahead of schedule
  • Champion periodontal maintenance programs and motivate patients toward lifelong oral-systemic wellness
  • Teach patients proper home care techniques tailored to periodontal health
  • Provide postoperative instructions after scaling, root planing, or surgical procedures
  • Sterilize and maintain instrumentation according to infection control standards
  • Capture digital radiographs, CBCT scans, and digital impressions
  • Collaborate with the periodontist to select evidence-based treatments, including oral cancer evaluations
  • Record clinical findings, update charts, and correspond with referring dentists through letters and images
  • Manage inventory and reorder supplies to ensure uninterrupted patient care
  • Foster a positive, patient-focused environment that upholds all infection-control protocols

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist in a periodontal or general practice setting
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and current infection control protocols
  • Skill in preparing, using, and maintaining dental and imaging equipment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities that build patient trust
  • Friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented approach to care
  • Adequate physical stamina for repetitive chairside duties and instrument processing

Education/Certification Requirements

  • Associate or bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene or equivalent
  • Active Registered Dental Hygienist license in the state of practice

Preferred Requirements

  • Certification in nitrous oxide monitoring and local anesthesia, or the ability to obtain with employer support
  • Prior experience in a periodontal or surgical dental setting
  • Familiarity with detailed periodontal charting software
