  • Location: Must be based in Rhode Island (Providence preferred) or Massachusetts (Boston preferred)
  • Work Model: Onsite; Ability to travel up to 75%

Summary

Our client is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team! The Field Service Engineer will provide exceptional technical service and support to customers in New England and across the United States. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and the ability to perform laser installations, preventive maintenance, and repairs efficiently. Training on laser systems will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex troubleshooting and repairs independently while adhering to established procedures
  • Train customers and staff on the applications and operation of laser equipment
  • Submit accurate and timely service reports, timesheets, expense reports, and other required documentation
  • Manage workload independently to meet customer needs efficiently
  • Adhere to FDA regulations as outlined by the company
  • Provide prompt and professional responses to all customer inquiries
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to maintain a positive and productive work environment
  • Maintain a professional and positive image when interacting with customers and vendors

Requirements

  • Ability to analyze, test, and repair electronic equipment
  • Previous field service troubleshooting experience is required
  • Familiarity with technical documentation and the ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Education or experience in photonics, electronics, biomedical engineering, or a related field
  • Strong communication skills with a clear and friendly approach
  • Ability to compose professional correspondence and emails
  • Detail-oriented with a natural technical aptitude
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel up to 75%
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and over 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Capacity to stand, lift, push/pull, bend, squat, stretch, walk, and sit for extended periods

Education/Certification Requirements

  • An Associate's or Technical Degree required

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience directly with photonics, electronics, or biomedical engineering is preferred
