Summary

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Director to drive CDMO business growth. This role requires excellent access and communication skills to key decision makers in large pharma and biotech, including C-suite level Executives and VPs of External Manufacturing, Quality, CMC, and Program Management, effective internal and external presentations, and cross-functional collaboration with Technical Development, GMP Operations, and MSAT teams. BD Director will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and meeting annual sales plan in the target markets.

This role reports to the Senior Vice President, Business Development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage business development activities by actively prospecting for customers seeking CDMO services in process and analytical development, and GMP manufacturing for cell and gene therapy. Meet and exceed annual sales plan.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand BD pipeline. Manage, maintain, and track sales pipeline on CRM. Track opportunities, present sales progress, and share VOC to leadership on a regular basis.
  • Manage incoming sales leads and drive proposal discussions, from executing NDA and MSA, managing client intake, completing RFI/ RFP and proposals, and driving negotiation to closing sales.
  • Be the primary contact with key decision makers to build a long-term strategic partnership with clients.
  • Identify client requirements and address client issues to internal stakeholders and formulate responses to clients to ensure timely revision and communications for best-in-class CDMO client experience.
  • Facilitate successful on-site visits to CRDMO's GMP facility by prospective GMP clients, lead sales discussions, capture client feedback, and drive negotiation to close sales.
  • Support outreach, marketing and thought leadership to expand CRDMO's reach and impact at conferences and trade shows. Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of client programs and sales pipeline to accurately provide forecast of client demands and sales funnel.

Desired Skills and Background

  • Bachelors degree in Biology, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry. PhD preferred.
  • At least 7 years of field sales or BD experience in advanced therapies, especially in CDMO or CRO.
  • Detail oriented and able to multitask in a dynamic environment with excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter, attention to detail, and effective prioritization for responding to customer requests and urgency.
