Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chemical Engineer to join our client's team in Batam. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and reformulating product formulations, focusing on incorporating recycled content and achieving cost efficiencies. This role involves ensuring process stability, validating production results, managing recycled content certifications, and providing technical support to both internal teams and customers. A strong understanding of polymer chemistry, compounding, color, and sustainability is crucial for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create product formulations that comply with recycling content and cost policies.
- Reformulate non-conforming materials (rework) to ensure usability and minimize waste.
- Be accountable for addressing any abnormalities during the production process and validating the results of each lot, providing effective solutions.
- Manage recycled content certification processes, including data collection and audits.
- Develop new product formulas and reformulate existing products to enhance quality and achieve cost savings.
- Register new raw materials and issue documentation for formulation changes.
- Provide technical guidance and support to customers regarding our product portfolio.
- Drive innovation in sustainable recycled materials and provide technical support for new material requests from the commercial team.
- Develop and provide process Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to process engineers for each material adjustment and classification.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Polymer Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a plastics or polymer-related industry.
- Strong understanding of chemical plastics, basic polymer science, monomers, polymerization processes, and the compounding of different types of polymers.
- Comprehensive understanding of color science, including pigments, dyes, color indexes, and Pantone codes.
- Strong practical knowledge of compounding plastics, color-matching techniques, and sustainability principles.
- Good analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively on technical matters and propose improvements.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental management systems.
- Proactive in seeking continuous improvement, possesses active listening skills, and has good presentation skills.
- Proficient in English and willing to be placed in Batam, Kepulauan Riau, Indonesia.
