The Designer will work collaboratively as part of the design team and independently to Design made-to-order HVAC equipment. This individual will use knowledge of design concepts and processes to deliver timely and accurate technical information to Sales, Production, and Service. The Designer will be directly responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of technical documents. This individual should be detailed, innovative, organized, creative, and a team player who is able to complete work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Follow the policies and procedures of the Company as set by Senior Management.
- Communicate effectively with Team Leader, Design Manager, colleagues, and Technical Sales personnel.
- Continuously develop technical and interpersonal skills.
- Utilize all Company resources correctly and efficiently.
- Produce accurate and complete technical documents.
- Deliver timely and accurate technical information to Sales, Production, and Service.
- Produce a minimum of $500,000 of design work or complete a minimum of twenty projects per month.
- Prioritize and strive to meet lead time requirements as set by the Team Leader.
- Provide suggestions for improvement to Design Guidelines and Processes to the Team Leader.
- Maintain a level of composure and act in a professional manner in interactions with all employees.
- Utilize economic sense when reviewing potential changes or solutions.
- Participate in the Health and Safety Program
- Participate in the QMS Program
- Utilize technical problem-solving to design a wide variety of custom HVAC equipment
- Create a design package to detail the following:
- Performance data, construction data, and specifications of the equipment
- Mechanical drawings
- Hydronic and refrigeration schematics
- Electrical schematics complete with a sequence of operation
- Detailed bill of materials
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field or post-secondary education, or equivalent work experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a technical program or a minimum of 1 year of direct work experience.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Passionate self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Interpersonal skills required to communicate with a broad range of individuals.
- Design and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in CAD software, SolidWorks, or other 3D modeling experience.
- Mechanical, electrical, and control system knowledge
- Effective presentation skills.
