Department description and responsibilities

As a Survey Technician, you prepare, collect and process survey data, and ensure clear reporting of results and any deviations to project management and client representatives. In doing so, you contribute to a safe and cost-efficient execution of the project in line with contractual requirements.

  • Nearshore massflow trenching and Artemis cable tracking measurements
  • Rockbag placement

Primary tasks and responsibilities

  • Determine, prepare and install the required measurement equipment.
  • Measure and process data before, during and after project execution, and perform field checks in line with specifications and project requirements.
  • Validate data accuracy, analyse and interpret results, and convert findings into clear reports for project management and client representatives.
  • Set up, maintain and update the relevant databases.
  • Monitor the functioning of measurement equipment and ensure maintenance is carried out according to the applicable instructions.

📝 Your profile

  • At least 7 years of experience as a Survey Technician in marine or construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of hydrographic survey techniques and equipment.
  • Experience with offshore navigation and positioning systems.
  • Additional experience with subsea acoustic positioning systems and multibeam systems.
  • Hardware knowledge of Exail GAPS USBL + beacons, Septentrio GNSS, Octans, Norbit multibeam, ROV setup and Artemis cable tracker.
  • Software knowledge of QINSY Offshore, QIMERA Offshore and Exail Delphins Subsea.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • High attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Willingness to work in different locations and adapt to project-specific needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics or a related field.
  • Eligible to work on location (visa/work permit where applicable).
  • Fluent spoken and written English; additional languages are a strong asset.

Certifications

  • Medical certificate (OGUK)
  • STCW / BOSIET / GWO (First Aid, Fire Awareness or Sea Survival)
  • GWO Boat Transfer (risk assessed)
  • GWO Working at Height
