📋 Tasks and responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Product Owner to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering software products that meet both business and customer needs. As a Product Owner, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including external supplier or development team, internal IT department and stakeholders, to ensure that the software application meets the required specifications and delivers high value to users and the business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Vision & Strategy:
- Define and communicate a clear product vision, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
- Create and maintain the product roadmap, ensuring that product features and releases are prioritized based on business objectives and customer feedback.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and refine product strategies and identify opportunities for product innovation.
2. Requirements Gathering & Documentation:
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather and document product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Define detailed product specifications and ensure alignment with the development team’s capabilities.
- Ensure that requirements are clear, concise, and prioritized effectively for efficient development and delivery.
3. Backlog Management:
- Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring that the team is always working on the most important features and tasks.
- Break down complex features into smaller, actionable user stories that can be delivered incrementally.
- Regularly review and refine the backlog to ensure it reflects the latest business needs, market changes, and customer feedback.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Act as the main point of contact between stakeholders and the external supplier or development team.
5. Product Delivery:
- Ensure timely delivery of product features and releases according to the product roadmap.
- Monitor progress and track performance against deadlines, resolving roadblocks to ensure that deliverables are met.
- Ensure that the product is built in line with agreed-upon specifications, functionality, and user experience requirements.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Product Management Expertise:
o Proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role managing software applications or digital products.
o Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies .
o Ability to define clear product requirements, prioritize tasks, and make data-driven decisions. - Communication & Collaboration:
o Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
o Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on team collaboration and stakeholder management.
o Experience in leading product discussions, presentations, and product training sessions.
o Fluent in Dutch and French (level B2)
o Strong knowledge of English - Analytical & Problem-Solving:
o Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret user feedback, market trends, and data to guide product decisions.
o Ability to identify product opportunities, risks, and issues, and take appropriate action to resolve them. - Technical Skills:
o Familiarity with software development processes and technical concepts, including APIs, databases, and integration points.
o Experience with product management tools like Jira to manage backlogs and track progress. (8 years)
o Expert knowledge of business process modelling tools like BPMN (8 years)
o Familiarity with database modelling in UML (4 years)
📝Your profile
o Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
o Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with development teams. (8 years)o Proven experience in application delivery (evaluation, testing, documentation, ) in last 3 years
o Proven experience in the public sector
o 3 years of experience as a Product Owner or in a product management role, preferably with a focus on software applications or digital products.
o Proven experience in police processes and preferably police applications in the last 3 years
o Knowledge of Police products such as ISLP, Feedis or GES are a plus.
