Description
You are the coordinator for the construction phase of our client, in a project for which a project manager is responsible. This means follow up of the planning and quality of the construction, coordination of interaction between contractors, construction administration and point of contact for the contractors.
These works are realised for production facilities and infrastructure.
Depending of the kind of project the construction works are mostly a combination of multi disciplines like civil, piping, electrical, erection of equipment.
You are also responsible for safety on the construction site.
Coordination and Planning:
Organize and coordinate construction projects, including temporary mobile construction sites.
Organize site setup (electrical supply, utilities, fencing, signage, timely ordering of scaffolding, lifting equipment, maintenance services, etc.).
Organize and lead introductory meetings (before and at the start of work).
Organize and lead daily meetings (during the execution of work) and report on them.
Report on the progress and scope of work (e.g., via a diary).
Check timesheets and used materials, identify and report deviations (additional and reduced work) to the project manager, including their impact on costs, quality, and planning.
Organize and supervise inspections.
In collaboration with the project manager, organize the commissioning works.
Continuously monitor the quality of the work performed regarding good craftsmanship and compliance with Umicore company standards, report on this, and/or escalate deviations to the project team.
Take corrective measures if contractors do not respect the discussed safety plan, up to exclusion from the site as an extreme measure.
Check timesheets and used materials, identify and report deviations (additional and reduced work) to the project manager, including their impact on costs, quality, and planning.
Oversee various projects such as the construction of substations/transformers, earthworks for lightly radioactive waste, remediation projects, and sewer works.
Make independent decisions within the applicable procedures, schedules, and budgets regarding the progress of work to ensure timely, efficient and safe completion.
Supervise and coordinate the involved contractors.
Safety:
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, the safety plan, and other rules (e.g., use of PPE, smoking behavior) and take necessary corrective measures.
Technical Support:
Provide input for the 'as-built' dossier at the end of the project.
Provide technical support for connecting cables, modifying piping in buildings, and replacing cooling towers.
Communication:
Act as a point of contact for external parties and ensure clear communication and collaboration.
Technical profile requirements
- Bachelor's degree in construction, electromechanics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Broad technical knowledge of different disciplines: electrical, mechanical, piping, civil
- The ability to read technical project files, including electrical schematics, P&IDs, layout plans, and construction drawings.
- Technical insight and the ability to objectively approach and solve technical problems.
- A degree of "Veiligheidscoördinator niveau B" is preferred or at least you are willing to get that degree.
