Senior Project Manager CAPEX Process Industry

Project overview

As CAPEX Project Manager, you drive large multidisciplinary investment projects within the process industry. You take full responsibility for scope, budget, schedule, quality and safety, covering both greenfield developments and substantial revamps or modifications of existing industrial facilities.

Primary tasks & responsibilities

• Lead industrial engineering projects from feasibility and concept definition through engineering, execution, commissioning and final handover to operations.
• Define and manage project scope, deliverables, budget, business case, investment approval and baseline planning in MS Project.
• Steer all project phases, including pre-studies, concept selection, basic and detailed engineering, procurement, contractor selection, construction, on-site activities, commissioning and operational transfer.
• Act as the central point of accountability for stakeholders and management across the entire project lifecycle.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams spanning mechanical, electrical, automation, piping, civil and EHS disciplines, working with both internal and external parties.
• Manage scope changes, risks, claims and deviations affecting budget, planning or delivery.
• Report in a structured way on progress, issues and key decisions to steering committees and senior stakeholders.

📝 Your profile

Technical profile requirements

• You have at least 10 years of experience as a Project Manager, with proven end-to-end ownership of industrial CAPEX projects.
• You also have at least 7 years of experience as a Project Engineer in fields such as mechanical, electrical, piping or civil engineering.
• You bring solid expertise in pre-feasibility and concept studies, CAPEX budgeting, investment approval and the commissioning of industrial installations.
• Background in the process industry is essential.
• You have strong hands-on knowledge of MS Project and personally own project planning rather than only tracking it.
• You combine an academic mindset with strong analytical skills and a broad helicopter view.

Non-technical profile requirements

• You work autonomously and take full ownership of your responsibilities.
• You show strong leadership and can challenge stakeholders and contractors when required.
• You communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders at every level of the organisation.
• You bring natural authority in complex industrial environments.

Methodology / certification requirements

• VCA-Vol is mandatory.
• PMP / Prince2 is a plus.
