Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Specialist (Operation Finance) Closing & General Ledger is responsible for managing general ledger activities, month-end and year-end closing, reconciliations, reporting schedules, and audit/tax support with minimal supervision. This role ensures financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with accounting standards, tax requirements, company policies, and internal controls, while supporting process improvement and timely issue resolution.
1. Finance Operation – Closing & General Ledger
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, depreciation, provisions, and month-end adjustments with proper supporting documentation.
- Perform monthly reconciliations for general ledger accounts, including bank, debtor, creditor, intercompany, fixed assets, accruals, deposits, and balance sheet schedules.
- Coordinate assigned month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial closing.
- Analyse Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet accounts to identify variances, unusual movements, aging items, and reconciliation issues, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Prepare management reporting schedules, financial analysis, variance explanations, and supporting documents for review.
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions, balances, billings, settlements, and confirmations to ensure accurate reporting.
- Support assigned finance initiatives, ad-hoc analysis, and management requests with accountability for quality and timely completion.
- Ensure accounting records comply with applicable accounting standards, company policies, internal controls, and statutory requirements.
- Prepare audit and tax schedules, supporting documents, and responses to audit or tax queries within the required timeline.
- Support cash flow reporting and other finance reporting requirements by preparing accurate schedules and reconciliations.
- Support finance system enhancement, process improvement, SOP documentation, and ad-hoc finance projects by identifying gaps and proposing practical improvements.
2. Others
- Manage communication and follow-ups with external auditors, tax consultants, company secretary, bankers, and relevant authorities on assigned finance matters.
- Maintain organised records and audit-ready documentation for approvals, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting files under the assigned scope.
- Work closely with internal departments to clarify financial information, resolve outstanding matters, and ensure timely completion of required actions.
- Guide junior team members on routine finance processes, documentation standards, and closing related tasks where required.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in general ledger, month-end closing, audit, taxation, or full set accounts.
- Good knowledge of accounting standards, double-entry accounting, financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliation, and internal control practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems; experience with reporting tools will be an added advantage.
- Able to prepare journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting schedules independently and accurately.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, resolve accounting discrepancies, and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Able to work with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight closing and reporting deadlines.
- Good communication, stakeholder management, integrity, accountability, and ownership in supporting finance operations and process improvement.
