About the Role

FiberEdge Services is building an elite team of Optical Network Specialists to support advanced fiber testing, characterization, troubleshooting, and broad environmental audits across long-haul, metro, backbone, and hyperscale data center networks. This role is ideal for highly skilled fiber professionals who excel in field-based testing, documentation, and problem solving—and who take pride in delivering precise, reliable results in demanding environments.

You will perform end-to-end fiber characterization, photo-driven environmental audits, and acceptance testing, ensuring networks meet the performance and quality standards required for today's cloud and AI-driven infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Fiber Testing & Characterization

• Perform OTDR testing across multiple wavelengths
• Conduct OLTS/Insertion Loss/Optical Return Loss testing
• Execute CD/PMD testing and full fiber characterization packages
• Complete fiber link acceptance testing for new builds, upgrades, and interconnects

Environmental Audits & Field Documentation

• Conduct broad environmental audits within data centers, interconnects, and OSP/ISP environments
• Capture detailed photo documentation of infrastructure: racks, panels, trays, pathways, labels, and routing
• Identify installation issues, labeling gaps, risks, and inconsistencies
• Provide organized, accurate findings for engineering, operations, and quality teams

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

• Perform in-depth fiber troubleshooting and root-cause isolation
• Identify performance issues, degradations, and faults
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve or escalate issues

Reporting & Documentation

• Produce detailed technical reports and analysis
• Organize and maintain accurate test records and audit photos
• Ensure all testing meets industry and client-specific standards

Field Operations & Network Environments

• Support long-haul, metro, backbone, and hyperscale interconnect environments
• Collaborate with client teams, construction partners, and network engineers
• Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures onsite

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years in fiber testing, characterization, or field engineering
• Strong proficiency with OTDR, OLTS, CD/PMD, and fiber test equipment
• Experience conducting field-based audits or documentation work
• Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
• Experience with long-haul, metro, or data center interconnect environments
• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to travel for multi-day or multi-week projects

Preferred

• Experience supporting hyperscale or carrier-grade networks
• Familiarity with OSP/ISP and data center infrastructure layouts
• Fiber-related certifications (FOA, ETA, CFCE, etc.)
