About the job Fiber Network Data Analyst
The Fiber Network Data Analyst plays a critical role in documenting and managing fiber optic network assets across both inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) environments. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze, validate, and update network records using specialized industry software. The ideal candidate is skilled in fiber network design interpretation, data verification, and project support within a highly technical and collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update records of fiber optic network assets for ISP and OSP using fiber network mapping software.
- Analyze network orders, engineering diagrams, and fiber route documentation to ensure the accuracy of customer network asset records.
- Research and validate fiber designs by aligning them with project objectives, technical requirements, and implementation priorities.
- Gather and interpret various data sources to compare and validate fiber network information.
- Identify and troubleshoot discrepancies in design drawings and network documentation; isolate performance issues related to data entry and software usage.
- Utilize software tools such as MapInfo, Visio, Google Earth/Maps, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus but not required.
- Use Google Earth/Maps to confirm building addresses, gather GPS coordinates, and create accurate building footprints within network systems.
- Interpret and act upon dark fiber contracts, ensuring all actions are aligned with the contractual obligations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of interconnectivity standards within carrier hotels, including fiber and cable types, physical interfaces, connectors, and riser routing.
- Work with databases, perform queries, and read schematic drawings to support data integrity and network planning initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding technical diagrams, spreadsheets, and network schematics.
- Experience in fiber network design or GIS systems is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD is advantageous but not required.
