BOILERMAKER WELDER

Key Responsibilities:

1. Metal Fabrication:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
- Select and prepare materials, including cutting, grinding, and shaping metal components.
- Operate various tools and equipment such as welding machines, shears, and grinders to fabricate metal structures.
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of the finished product by measuring and inspecting completed work.

2. Welding:
- Perform various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to join metal parts.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions as required by the project.
- Conduct weld inspections to ensure structural integrity and adherence to industry standards.

3. Installation:
- Assemble and install metal structures, including boilers, tanks, and support frames, at construction sites or manufacturing facilities.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as engineers and project managers, to ensure accurate and efficient installations.

4. Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow proper safety procedures during all tasks.

5. Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks on existing metal structures or equipment.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to ensure optimal functionality.

6. Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
- Complete required documentation, including work orders and inspection reports.

Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong welding and metal fabrication skills.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Physical Requirements: The role involves standing for extended periods, lifting heavy materials, and working in various weather conditions.

Qualifications:
Suitable certification or relevant experience.

Experience:
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar environment
- Proven experience as a metal fabricator or boilermaker, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Experience in steel fabrication and erection preferred.
- Familiarity with various welding techniques and metalworking processes.

FITTER GENERAL

Key Responsibilities:
- Fit and assemble fabricated metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines, mechanical systems, and equipment.
- Inspect fabricated and assembled metal components for accuracy, clearance, and proper fit, using precision measuring tools.
- Set up machining tools, production machines, including adjusting guides, stops, cutting, shaping tools.
- Operate machinery to form metal stock and castings with high precision, utilizing machines for pressing, cutting, grinding, drilling, boring, and planing.
- Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines for various mechanical systems.
- Diagnose faults in machinery and perform operational maintenance, overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment.

Qualifications:
- AQF Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (or equivalent) including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in Engineering.
- Proven experience in fitting and machining with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes and machine operation.

Skills and Attributes:
- Proficient in using precision measuring instruments.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with various machining tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality, precise metal components.

FITTER & TURNER

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Interpret and study engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions to determine appropriate materials, machining methods, sequence of operations and machine settings.
- Fit, assemble and install fabricated metal components, parts and sub-assemblies to manufacture and maintain machinery and equipment.
- Inspect fabricated and assembled components using precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy, correct clearances and proper fit.
- Set up and operate a range of machining tools and equipment, including cutting, shaping, grinding, drilling, boring, planing and pressing machinery.
- Set and adjust machine guides, stops, controls, cutting tools, dies and other equipment to achieve required specifications and tolerances.
- Machine, form and finish metal components and castings to specified dimensions and fine tolerances using appropriate machining techniques.
- Cut, thread, bend, assemble and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes, lines and associated fittings.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out routine operational maintenance, servicing, overhauling and repairs of machinery, mechanical components and fluid power equipment.
- Dismantle, repair, replace and reassemble defective or worn mechanical components to restore machinery to safe and efficient operating condition.
- Test and inspect completed work and machinery to ensure components are correctly fitted, aligned and functioning in accordance with specifications.
- Assist with the installation, commissioning, adjustment and alignment of machinery and equipment at work sites.
- Maintain a safe and organised work area and comply with workplace health and safety requirements and relevant procedures.

Qualifications:

METAL MACHINIST

Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, lathes, milling machines, and other metalworking equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to determine machining requirements.
- Select appropriate tools, equipment, and materials for specific tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance. 

Metal Fabrication:
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble metal parts and components according to specifications.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and machines to fabricate parts with precision.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.

Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery and finished parts using precision measuring instruments (callipers, micrometres, gauges).
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with machine performance or product defects.
- Maintain accurate records of measurements, inspections, and maintenance activities.

Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Adhere to workplace safety standards and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and waste management practices.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding project progress and any issues encountered.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements.

Tasks

- Skills: Proficiency in operating CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and other metalworking equipment. Strong understanding of technical drawings and blueprints. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
