Junior Site Construction Engineer

Position Overview:
The Junior Site Construction Engineer supports senior engineers and project managers in overseeing and managing construction activities. This entry-level role involves working on-site to ensure construction projects are executed in accordance with engineering designs, safety regulations, and quality standards. The position offers a hands-on learning opportunity, providing exposure to all aspects of construction engineering, including project coordination, safety management, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Support and Coordination:
- Assist senior engineers and site managers in daily project activities.
- Review engineering plans, drawings, and specifications to understand the project scope.
- Monitor progress on-site and ensure adherence to project timelines and construction standards.
- Site Supervision:
- Conduct on-site inspections to ensure work is being completed according to designs and specifications.
- Support in managing subcontractors and labor teams, ensuring tasks are carried out as per instructions.
- Report any site issues, delays, or safety concerns to the project engineer or site manager.
- Health and Safety:
- Assist in implementing and enforcing safety protocols according to Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
- Ensure that all site activities comply with safety regulations, and report any safety incidents or hazards.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
- Quality Assurance:
- Conduct quality control checks, ensuring that materials and workmanship meet the required standards.
- Document and report any quality issues to the senior engineer or project manager.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving construction challenges as they arise.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records, including daily logs, progress reports, and safety reports.
- Assist in preparing reports for project managers and clients, providing updates on project status and any issues encountered.
- Ensure all documentation is in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with senior engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination of activities.
- Assist in communication between on-site teams and the office-based design and project teams.
- Materials and Resource Management:
- Assist in managing and coordinating the delivery of materials and equipment on-site.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure materials are available to meet project requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 0-2 years of relevant work experience in the construction industry, including internships or placements (preferred but not mandatory).
- Certifications:
- Construction Induction (White Card) mandatory for working on Australian construction sites.
- Familiarity with WHS (Work Health and Safety) guidelines is highly advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in construction management software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Drivers License: A valid Australian drivers license is essential, as travel between sites may be required.
Work Environment:
- Physical Requirements: The role requires spending time outdoors on construction sites, with exposure to various weather conditions and physical demands.
- Travel: Travel to different construction sites may be required, depending on the location of projects.
