Job Title: Boiler Maker / Welder
Qualification: Trade qualified (Minimum Cert III in engineering Boilermaker/Welder or equivalent international qualification) with workshop based experience
Reports To: Shift Supervisor / Leading Hand, Workshop Supervisor, Workshop Manager
Job Purpose: Must comply with all legislation and safety guidelines. Set up operation of workstation and tasks outlined by supervisor.
Authority: This position has authority to report quality and OH&S problems and recommend corrective and preventive action.
Objectives: To manufacture a quality product to customers scope of work and required standard following all occupational health and safety guidelines while adhering to all company policies.
Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate sound mechanical aptitude and able to read, interpret and manufacture from technical workshop drawings in accordance to scope of work
- Set up and execute product manufacturing operations in accordance with the assigned job traveller documentation and or as identified during manufacturing
- Be able to work independently and or within a team with or without supervision
- To manufacture, strip and repair product in a proper and safe manner using the most economical methods
- Inspect and record manufacturing details as and when product manufacture documentations require including for all variations
- Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility with job tasks liaising with all relevant stakeholders
- Follow weld procedure specifications (WPS). Tig & Mig.
- Identify non-conformances and report to their supervisor immediately.
- Keep and maintain workstations and surrounds in a safe, clean and orderly manner
- Conduct safe and proper machine operations as per SOP training
- Notify supervisor of any shortage of tools and maintenance requirements
- Seek approval of Workshop Management for any changes to Workshop practices, drawings etc. Ensure that no practice or procedure is changed without this authority
- Conduct Pre-operational inspections of machinery and equipment
- Participate in Risk Assessment
- Participate in personal training including helping with apprentices and fellow personnel
- Daily timesheet completion at the end of every shift with accurate job and operation details.
Accountability:
- Be present to start and finish work on the job at the designated starting times
- Be present for their entire required shift and do whatever is required, to help achieve business targets.
