Position: Factory Leading Hand

Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Factory Leading Hand to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our factory, ensuring that production targets are met, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise a team of factory workers, providing guidance, training, and support as needed
- Monitor production schedules and ensure that all production targets are met
- Conduct quality checks on products to ensure they meet company standards
- Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all health and safety regulations
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity
- Order and maintain inventory levels of materials and supplies
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth production flow and timely delivery of products
- Train new employees on production processes and procedures
- Complete production reports and maintain accurate records.
- Coordination and delegation of daily activities and tasks to factory tradespeople, apprentices and truck driver,
- Lead a team of 10 tradesmen / apprentices.
- Manage tight production schedules to ensue joinery project deadlines are met,
- Ensure best practice production standards are implemented within the factory and onsite, to produce a quality product, with minimum defects,
- Work closely with the design team to ensure drawings and designs are easily interpreted and highly functional for the factory floor, to ensure seamless and efficient production,
- Inspection and monitoring of daily manufacturing activities to ensure
compliance with plans, work method statements and codes of practice,
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of production processes and equipment
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent leadership and people management skills,
- Ability to drive a project to completion,
- Trade qualifications in Cabinetmaking / Shopfitting or Joinery,
- Strong previous workshop / factory experience in a similar role,
- The ability to take ownership and responsibility,
- The ability to multi-task effectively,
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong mentoring and supervisory skills,
- Good general technical knowledge and the ability to read and understand production drawings.
